Senior Crimestoppers Program

NASVH/NASDVA Conference The Armed Forces Veterans Homes Foundation (AFVHF) is proud to be the partner of the National Association of State Veterans Homes (NASVH).

Education

Our joint work focuses on the formulation of professional development programs to serve the needs of Veteran Home administrators nationwide. This includes the provision of instruction for administrators to earn continuing education credit needed each year to keep licenses current in nursing home administration.

Fundraising

Our partnership also includes resource development to meet educational program expense - and related costs of the NASVH annual meetings (both the Mid-Winter Meeting and the Summer Conference.) AFVHF develops a trade fair in support of the NASVH Conference - and other sponsorships for Veteran Home administrators as needed.

Proud NASVH History

NASVH was founded in New England in 1952 because of the mutual need to share common problems and experiences at the national level. NASVH now is the largest provider of long term nursing care in the United States. In FY 2003, State Veterans Homes furnished 5.60 million days of nursing home care and 1.35 million days of domiciliary care to elderly and infirm veterans.

The goals of NASVH are:

1. Establish and maintain the highest standard of domiciliary, nursing home and hospital care for veterans and their dependents who are eligible for admission to Homes:

2. Provide a coordinated, composite analysis of the financial and legislative support required;

3. Insure solidarity in the presentation of requirements to Congress and of its responsibility in meeting those needs;

4. Provide a clearinghouse for techniques and expertise in the care of veterans and the management of State Homes;

5. Establish and maintain a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Veterans Affairs to promote mutual concerns in providing quality care for veterans.
