troops volunteer for the homeTeam leaders are reporting a number of plans to best–use their troops. Some will be traveling to Homes monthly to visit the veteran residents. Some will be on–site in conjunction with a specific Home outing or activity. Others have chosen to be with the residents for Veterans Day or Memorial Day commemorative ceremonies. The Christmas Holidays will be popular too, with gifts and decorations to accompany the volunteers. Some teams will be transporting residents back to base for a tour and use of recreational facilities.

Whatever the activity, there is nothing that creates a brighter spark in the life of a Veterans Home resident than the sight of uniformed troops coming through the front door. The Veterans Homes Foundation thanks all of its volunteers for offering this invaluable community service, which so greatly enriches resident’s quality of life.
